FAMILY FEATURE
Motive Club Heroes
12 year old Cancer Survivor and his Dad plan expedition to deliver free wheelchairs in Mexico in his H.E.R.O. Jeep

Dave Day is the President and Founder of Grower’s First, a non-profit organization that serves the poor farming communities around the world. His 12-year-old son Cody, was diagnosed with a brain tumor three years ago. He has had surgery and chemo and spent much of the last two years in CHOC Hospital for Children in Southern California. Cody is in full remission and doing well now. Cody’s dad, Dave Day, used the promise of building a Jeep together as an incentive to motivate Cody. Cody is now in full remission which led Dave to buy a $400 1997 Jeep Wrangler that needed some help.

Dave turned to Ron Flint, President of Motive Club, for some help and advice on the Jeep. Ron pulled together a few sponsors and worked with Cody to design the Jeep of his dreams. Thanks to ARB, Jeeps R Us and a host of other sponsors, the H.E.R.O. Jeep was presented to Cody and Dave at a press conference at SEMA last November.

The story doesn’t stop there. Just as true heroes do, they have already committed themselves to helping others with their new H.E.R.O. Jeep wherever and whenever they can. This coming fall, Cody, Dave, Motive Club and some Jeep Club members from Mexico City will team up to deliver free wheelchairs to the poorest coffee farming families in Oaxaca Mexico.

The Free Wheelchair Mission delivers this durable basic wheelchair all over the world for only $48.00! Dave personally has already delivered hundreds of these in the Oaxaca region of Mexico to the poorest farming communities.

While conventional wheelchairs can cost anywhere from $500 to $30,000, Free Wheelchair Mission developed one that costs just $48.35 to manufacture and deliver anywhere in the world It's a simple contraption, made from a plastic lawn chair and 24-inch mountain bike tires. These waterproof and durable wheelchairs can easily navigate the unpaved, rocky and rutted roads that are common in the impoverished third-world countries. Free Wheelchairs has delivered over 326,000 of these amazing vehicles of hope!

Check back in regularly to Motive Club to hear the latest on Dave and Cody’s adventures and service projects! Motive Club and the other vehicle sponsors will be displaying the H.E.R.O. Jeep at local events in Southern California like Terra del Sol, where Cody drove the Jeep for the first time!
